As a minimalist dresser, in my ideal world, if I were allowed to make style rules, the rule number one would be: Wide brimmed hat and sandals (not wedges) only, I do mean ONLY – when wearing a summer dress.
In other words, you don’t need anything more. So, please take off your heart-shape necklace; let go your beaded friendship bracelet and those Boho bangles; the drop earrings have to go I’m afraid; you don’t really need a belt and you can forget the scarf too…
By now you might be looking at me with doubt and a questioning expression.., well, follow this style advice then please take another look at yourself in the mirror. What do you see? A pretty summer dress without interruption!
The thing is, we have so many accessories and choices nowadays, therefore, we often forget that simple is the best!
I know it sounds cliché, but do allow me saying it again – ‘Less is more!’

You made me think of a quote: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci
I will definitely follow your style rules, Viv! And now I’m looking forward to summer so I can don the wide brimmed hat and the sandals.
Thank you Fia. I can already picturing you in your summer dress with a wide brimmed hat and a pair of sandals!
I LOVE that quote from Leonardo da Vinci. 🙂
In a way I was inspired by one of your recent blog post – ‘Collect Moments not Things’ https://essenfia.wordpress.com/2015/01/22/collect-moments-not-things/ so I want to embrace a simple, minimal style in fashion and the same way of living!

Thank you for asking @faceandfortune 🙂 I bought it several years ago from the department store David Jones in Sydney. They do have their own brand/products and this hat is one of them. I just love the orange! So summery!!
