My Current Denim Obsessions… High Waisted Jeans

E-2About seven years ago, a male friend of mine pointed out that one of my photos on a local dating site had caught his attention, because in that picture, I was wearing a pair of high waisted jeans…

‘Your jeans look dated.., it might just reveal your age…’ He even kindly suggested to me not to use that image.
How did it turn out? Well, I soon started dating someone else from that site and I then closed down my profile. Problem solved.

That’s right, low waisted (skinny) jeans have been popular for about a decade, during this period of time, high waisted jeans were received as ‘old fashioned’ or ‘Mum’s jeans’… Until recently when they became hot again.
Looking at this picture years later.., yes, it was THE photo of me in my ‘dated’ high waisted jeans; which my friend suggested remove from the dating site.
Time sure does magic! Isn’t it amazing that when a style comes back in trend; everything about it seems desirable and chic again?!!!

  1. I don’t think high wasted jeans are old fashion. My niece who is 15 years old is looking for a high wasted jeans. She thinks it looks good. But she can’t find one. The clothes shop we asked doesnt have any of it.

    • I love your feedback Lingy! It’s refresh to hear that a teenager adores this style! I’m surprised that the shop you went to didn’t have any high waisted jeans to offer; as they are back in trend!!
Try eBay or go to other stores If she’s still looking for a pair.., that’s what I’ll do. X

  2. I actually like high waisted jeans….. it’s more flaterring and doesn’t show one’s backside , aka ass , which, is cringe – worthy, in my opinion.

    • Haha~ I’m glad that you mentioned the backside ‘view’ from the low waisted jeans.
How could we forget the unflattering look from the low waisted jeans – especially when one is bending down…..

  3. The nature of trends is so fascinating. I remember those extremely low-cut jeans very well. You always had to be careful, when sitting down in order not to reveal too much cleavage from behind. All those g-strings peeping up weren’t a pretty sight at that time, and I’m happy high-waisted jeans are back:)

    • Hahaha… I love your feedback Mitzie!
That’s the exact vision I’ve had in mind whenever I think of those super low cut jeans! The buttock cleavage (aka bum crack) and the peeping up G-string… Oh well, it seems that we are haunted by these images for life…..

  4. High waisted jeans are really flattering and you look gorgeous on them. They are back on trend, like it happen recently with bootcut jeans. And, apart from denim, palazzo trousers are back again, and I can only love that seventies vibe that they give to your style!

I am sorry, but I don’t buy all this “mommy jeans” tag. Hehehe

    • Thank you Sara. And yes please, bring those palazzo pants on, they are simply gorgeous!!!
Seventies had its unique style; so unique that the world seems can’t get enough of it!

  5. I love high rise jeans, they look really cool. When I was a teen low rise was really popular and I vowed I’d never wear high rise jeans again…now I’m wearing high rise again 😀 It’s funny, a few years ago I got some ‘mum jeans’ from the local opshop and everyone laughed at me for my ‘odd fashion sense’…now I’m the one laughing because they are now wearing high waisted. Amazing look!

    • Love your feedback Katey!
Yes, that’s exactly what trend does to styles; from ‘old fashion’ to ‘in trend’, it really comes down to what’s ‘in’ right now and people would receive/view it so differently! !
Anyway; have fun wearing the high rise jeans~ 😉

  6. You have an amazing sense of style!!! And what can I say about the photo?!!!!
High wasted jeans are back and if you style them correctly, like you did, can be really chic!
    very nice work again!
    Have a great day!

  7. I do not think they are dated at all for the contrary they look quite amazing on you. And I usually love wear them cause they are really comfortable and they make me look with more curves. Besides nowadays everything that use to be considered old fashion is coming back stronger than before.

Btw I nominated you for the Sisterhood of the World Award if you could come to my blog and see the rules I will truly appreciate it.
