Have you ever wondered how the homeless look after their pets? Well, I have. Now I’ve found out about Pets In The Park, a charity which helps the homeless care for their pets, my question was finally answered.
Pets In The Park started out with volunteers Vets and Vet nurses helping the homeless care for their companion animals by providing free veterinary care. Picnic In The Park: Gala Charity Event, was to celebrate and thank PITP volunteers; corporate partners; donors and supporters.
As Kent was the official photographer for this charity event, we arrived early so that he could start documenting it from the beginning. And I can tell you, many of these guests turned up with their beloved pets – mostly dogs. These four legged friends stole the show and I couldn’t help myself from being photographed with one of the happy campers!
Before we picked our favourite spot and enjoyed our picnic lunch, the general manager of PITP James Dorahy welcomed Alex Greenwich, MP, Member for Sydney to officially opening the Gala Picnic in the Park, along with Councillor Jenny Green, City of Sydney, who officially launched the Pilot Outreach Program.
We enjoyed live music from wonderful performers throughout this outdoor event. The weather turned out perfectly for our gala picnic and we were all glad that the previous weather forecast – showers – didn’t happen.
I haven’t had a ‘real picnic’ for years, so I truly indulged in every minute of the traditional – rug on the grass – style.
While we didn’t win any prizes from Raffle draw, the look of the winners’ faces and sparkling wine kept us smiling…

Lovely initiative! Even though I can’t help wondering why people take pets if they can’t pay for their wellbeing?
Thank you for your feedback Merel. Yes I know how you feel.., well, pets don’t choose their owners, therefore we need to make sure that they are taken care of. X
