Politicians; TV personalities; social media influencers; sponsors; fashion stylists; food and wine experts… It was a full house of who’s who at Doltone House on the eve of Wednesday the 12th, as we all turned up for one reason – to celebrate the excellence of Made in Italy.
What better way to kick off the launch of 2016 Sydney Italian Festival than by treating all VIP guests with a sampling of fabulous Italian food and wine?!!!
The night’s first speech was given by Master of Ceremony Janette Lakiss; then a very warm welcome to the guests by Italian Trade Commissioner Antonietta Baccanari. His Excellency Ambassador of Italy Pier Francesco Zazo gave the crowd a sweet and short speech, followed by Peter Redford from Five Star Motor Cruisers.
After the official announcement of the launch, we continued our celebration, enjoying delicious Italian pizzas; cheese; prosciutto; olives; pasta; gelato and sweets… Meanwhile, Kent and I were happy to catch up with many more familiar faces this year than last year’s launch party.
As I grabbed a photo opportunity with the gorgeous lady Loredana from Sydney Italian Trade Agency (top right of the image below) while congratulating her on the success of the launch.., soon another tray of salmon mousse with black caviar canapes arrived right in front of me, my ‘Italian champagne’ Borga Prosecco complimented the seafood perfectly! At this very moment I thought, ‘La dolce vita, here I am!!!’.
In my coming post, I will talk about the fashion and style I adore from this exclusive event. As we know, fashion and design are a beloved part of Italian culture. To be continued…
Sydney Italian Festival 2016 runs from the October 12th to the 30th.
