A Night At The Ballet – My OOTN Choice For Swan Lake

Writer and blogger Vivienne She wears a Max Mara Leisure blue satin midi dress at the Sydney Opera House for Swan Lake by The Australian Ballet. The 50th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House.

Part of our celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House was to see Swan Lake by The Australian Ballet. My last two experiences seeing Swan Lake (the ballet), one happened to be by The Australian Ballet (as well) in 2016, and the other was in Prague, by the Royal Czech Ballet at the Hybernia Theatre in 2017. As much as I’d like to go on about how much I was moved (in 2016) by dancers Amber Scott and Adam Bull, the Odette/Odile and Prince Siegfried from The Australian Ballet, I shall keep this post focus on my outfit for this recent occasion. After all, this is my self-styled fashion diary.

It was a 30C kind of summery day on the 12th of December. Hot and humid. I kept my makeup to a minimum as I knew it would melt with my sweat before we reached the Sydney Opera House. Between a little black dress and this simple sleeveless midi dress in blue acetate satin, I chose the blue number. What I like about this dress is the flowing line with a diagonal cut on the front. It’s elegant and graceful. I wore a polyester wrinkled button-up shirt as a cardigan. A pair of silver heels. A strand of freshwater pearl necklace. The only accessory that seems like an outcast here is my bag! I needed a bag that would be large enough to fit a book in and none of my evening bags in light colours meet that requirement… And that’s why I ended up taking this fabric bag with me.

So, this is it! My last post about the Sydney-Opera-House-turns-50! If you have not seen my previous posts that are dedicated to it, simply click here, and here for the food and drink at the House. And a fashion story Kent and I created to mark this milestone using the House as the stunning backdrop.
