Outfit Of The Day On Day Six Of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia

640-AdjSE-Crp_7230Before I get into the Raffles International Showcase for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), which will be my next blog post. First let me share my thoughts on my MBFWA OOTD (Outfit of the Day).

I was inspired by this year’s Met Gala – Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. All the shimmer; lustre; sparkle and glitter wowed me, so too this Calvin Klein dark silver/iron grey dress which won me over with its metallic fabric sheen.
My necklace is my new found designer love, limited edition art jewellery by Lyn & Tony, made of plated crystal and kangaroo leather, all hand made in Australia.

My ankle boots are vintage and my faux leather bag/clutch is a last minute find in Chinatown. The sunglasses by Polaroid, were a gift to me by Safilo Australia.
What makes me happy about my OOTD choice is that, it goes well with the heavy metal feels of Carriageworks, a former railway workshop complexes: the iron bars; the industrial architecture and the old railway lines which run through the Eveleigh Rail Yards.

  1. Great look. I also like your explanation on how everything works together. I am not a fashion connoisseur and therefore appreciation the education you share. It makes your posts even more interesting. Thank you.

    • I’m so happy to read your encouraging feedback! Thank you Dr. Jonathan. Yes we know if one talks about her/his outfit choice, it seems vain BUT, if the whys and hows come with it, the ‘OOTD talk’ can be quite interesting and I’m delighted to know that you think so too! X

  2. You have done it again dear Vivienne; the perfect mix of panache and style which plays in harmony with the wonderful surrounds of the carriage works. ( Used the area so many times back in the day for photo shoots when it had been largely let go before it’s very sympathetic make over as a arts precinct.)

    • Thank you for your lovely feedback Greg. Carriageworks has been the ‘new’ home for MBFWA since 2013. I wonder what it looked like before the make over? I’d love to see those pictures!! X

  3. Just one word. Simply STUNNING!

Feeling a bit off tonight and needed some inspiration and your blog came to mind. And you never disappoint! Hope you’ve been well, Vivienne. I’m stalking your self-portraits tonight.

    • Awww.., I’m flatered! Thank you my sweet stalker Cara. 😀 I’m on my way to work now, and I’ll stalk your fabulous blog back tonight!! X

      • Awww, thank you very much, but unfortunately I’ve been neglecting said blog as of late. I’ve been in dire need of a fresh perspective. I’m happy to put a smile on your face though!

    • Thank you for your wonderful compliments S. I’m glad that you mentioned “energy”, as that’s what Kent’s fashion and portrait photography is well known for! X
