Walking The Line At Carriageworks On Day Five Of MBFWA

640-AdjSE-V2_2683On day five of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA), the temperature rose up from the recent average of 21C to 27C. Which means, my previously prepared and dry cleaned outfit would be too warm to wear that day.

A white shirt and polka dot culottes became my last minute choice; and I had to take my culottes to my dry cleaner for a quick steam so they would be ready to wear.
Now, talking about my outfit of the day (OOTD) in such a way would have been looked down upon and described as ‘shallow’ by an ex boy friend of mine from years ago…
So I was happy to be on my way to Carriageworks and the MBFWA – to join other fashion lovers who talk like this; think like this and who, like me, believe that the comeback of flared trousers is ground breaking news!

The occasion, the runway show of Raffles International Showcase which did not disappoint. Their emerging designs made me feel that my simple white shirt was a rather conservative choice. After the show, my friend Kent and I strolled around indulging in the fashion week atmosphere, bumping into and chatting with a few fashion friends.
By day five of MBFWA, I’d seen many, many images of street style fashion shots taken at Carriageworks. It used to be the home of the Sydney Rail Workshops, the industrial heritage warehousing and the rail way tracks have made Carriageworks an unique backdrop for fashionistas to showcase their OOTD.

So, how about a cliché Carriageworks OOTD shot?
Why not?! After all, fashion is about having fun and I’d love to capture this fun moment!

  1. Love your vintage culottes! They look perfect and stylish with that white shirt, but I know the feeling. When there are young designers around, all wearing colorful, avant-garde items, it’s easy to feel underdressed:):) Btw. what a wonderful location for an OOTD shoot:)

  2. I first meet Vivienne at a Gallery opening nearly 2 years ago, we got talking and she mentioned this blog .

While fashion is far from my field of expertise and knowledge I admired the passion she exhibited in both her personal style and interest in the art of dressing.

When ever I read one of the blog entries I appreciate the interwoven back pages of Vivienne’s life with the reasons as to why a particular ensemble is being worn and discussed. (I enjoy the photos too, many of which are taken by the skilled Kent Johnson.)

    • Thank you so much for your lovely feedback Greg. I’m so happy to know that you are reading my blog again!

I love the way you describe how my blog stories appear to you; you say it so beautifully!

      Kisses and hugs…

  3. Love the culottes look! You know what Vivienne, back to half a year ago, I was thinking about a new look with culottes and then they are everywhere from the fashion blogger and street style. I like your look, classic but shows a bit contrast from the cute dots and together makes the whole look great!

      • Oh, yes Vivienne I do, I get two pairs of culottes and one is with pure black and the other is pure lack blue (or even lighter colour) with removable straps and I might wear them to catch up with you some time when it comes to spring time. 😄 xoxo

  4. I’ve been surfing on-line more than 3 hours nowadays, yet I never found any fascinating article like yours vivalaViv. It’s lovely worth enough for me.
In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the internet might be a lot more useful than ever before.
