Embracing My Inner Princess

Embracing My Inner Princess

I was quite glad to be able to watch this year’s Academy Awards ceremony on TV at a friend’s house.

Having lived six and a half years without a TV at home, it’s only my third time during these ‘no-TV years’ that I have been able to enjoy the Oscars. Same as many of you, I was very excited to find out WHO the stars were wearing. It’s no doubt a ‘who’s wearing who’s’ grand show time between the fashion power houses.

As the ceremony rolled on, I noticed lots of actresses and nominees this year seemed to favour a Veronica Lake’s signature hair do. Here I noted : Cate Blanchett, Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock, Jessica Biel, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Garner, Julie Delpy and Margot Robbie… All had the old Hollywood glamorous wavy hair deep side part, swept to one side style – a la Veronica Lake!

Well, then I saw Lupita Nyong’o who accepted her best supporting actress award. In contrast to the main stream hair style of the night, her short hair was complimented by a Fred Leighton yellow gold and diamond headband which grabbed my attention. Not only did she look vibrant in her powder blue Prada gown; her ‘all out princess’ ensemble no doubt made her the night’s fashion winner too!

Watching actress Lupita Nyong’o’s style choice on the Oscar night reminded and confirmed to me what a fan I’ve been of a ‘Princess look’! It’s not every girl or woman’s cup of tea, but it’s sure mine. From a pair of lace gloves to the splendid evening gowns… I love them all! And let’s not forget THE ultimate accessory – the French Château – which I love the most!!

And while I can’t afford the Fred Leighton diamond headband ( nor a Château in France ), I guess my crystal headband will do just fine… at least for now….
