Throwback The ’90s – Underwear As Outerwear

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Interestingly, this is one of my preferred fashion trends from the ’90s. I remember that underwear of any kind, from the satin nightgowns; silk robes; bras and/or corsets as tops; slip dresses with bra’s straps to boxer shorts… Basically, any form of undergarment had become a fashionable trend when wearing as our outerwear during the ’90s.

This trend screams both femininity and liberty to me. And I still treasure my Moschino bra-strap navy lace cocktail dress and my Plein Sud lingerie-inspired high slit satin dress. This undergarment lace number as you see from the above ’90s photo of myself was also among my favourites and I wore it all the time!

These days, when it comes to wearing intimate attire as outerwear, I’d style it more carefully – it can be a fine line between being a fashionista and looking like a “working girl”.
Well, the bright side is, if I wore my silk pyjamas to take out the rubbish, I might be seen as the chicest dresser in the neighbourhood!

  1. This look is so feminine but so practical at the same time! A great way to pull off lingerie in the streets 😛
