First the Australian Black Summer bushfires, then the outbreak of Coronavirus followed by Black Lives Matter movement… 2020 has been a year unlike any other. On the New Year’s Eve, the very last day of 2020, I’d like to share some thoughts regarding my emotional journey of this year with you.
During the last nine months I’ve been taking all this set-back time in and embracing the slow-pace that we’ve had no option but to adapt. To tell the truth I have really enjoyed the opportunity to step back from my daily routine and have time to reflect on the bigger picture, such as… My reason for being on this earth. Nature is healing, how about us? Are we healing?
I don’t have answers for most of my questions, but I know that we were and are going through something powerful. For the first time that I’ve felt rooted to Mother Earth. And it proved that we are all connected. Like many people, I’ve been spending more time on cooking, watching movies; watching news (can’t recall when was the last time I watch so much news!) and writing. Yes, writing, I was travelling through my writing, I was also travelling through my memories. Not be able to travel freely has made me appreciate it even more!
Something has changed in me. I want to dig deeper into my inner self. I want to write more, share more; own less and desire less. I guess it’s a positive change that comes as a result of this crisis. It’s a surreal experience to be living through the global pandemic; everyday I feel a deep gratitude for living in a safe and beautiful country.
A sense of idyllic togetherness; a spirit of unity… Yes, we are all in this together. I believe that everything happens for a reason and there are important lessons to be learnt from 2020. It’s up to each individual to receive or not receive the messages sent by Mother Nature. And I hope that I’ll never forget.
Here I wish us all a safer, healthier and brighter 2021!
